General Information for Application
-
The club cannot provide information about the licensing process including the suitability of applicants, these questions should be put to the NSW Firearms Registry.
-
When completing the application form if there are any issues please do not panic you can submit and we will contact you to discuss.
-
You will be committed to on day per month for the first 12 months of membership for training, this is not negotiable and mandatory if you wish to maintain membership with Newtec.
-
Rifle Only Members: We are happy to have members with A and/or B licences and are organising more engagement events for you. If you hold a H category (pistol Licence) you must join as a full Pistol member of the club this is due to the club constitution and it making persons an associate member which currently is not allowed. If you gain a H cat licence at a later stage you will be given the choice to change to a full member or you can run out the current year and move on. You are welcome to apply to gain a pistol licence with Newtec subject to completion of requirements.
-
We ask that if you are interested in joining that you have read the relevant registry information which is linked on this site, reason for this is many people have failed to manage a pistol licence because they claimed they read the information but did not do so. Unfortunately we will not support anyone that fails to educate themselves, we certainly push this enough.
-
Newtec will not accept any aggressive, rude, threatening behaviour from anyone in any form. The club will report these actions as required this sport does not need hot headed idiots.
-
Please read the application form before you sign it, if you cannot meet the requirements do not sign it. You are encouraged to ask questions if you are unsure.
-
Excuses are like an arse everyone has one and they all stink so just be honest with us, we will try our best to help and make things work but we cannot do this without you telling us the truth.
-
Bad Attitudes have no place at the club so just save us all the time and agony. We want a fun place, somewhere people want to be and that will not work if there are bad attitudes so please come in positive and willing. This also extends to gossip and inciting trouble at the club we will not hesitate to exit people promptly if this is how they role.
-
Newtec expects all members to contribute some time to maintain the club, we do reserve the right to charge a levy for those that do not but typically do not, this does not mean that we will not so please allocate some time each year to attending a working bee.
-
The club expects that you are active in the club in respect to attending Meetings eg Annual General Meeting.
-
You must complete participation annually this is a requirement, the club will not renew members that have not completed participation.
-
If you just want a pistol for the sake of having one, please do not apply, we only want people willing to participate at our club building a great environment. There is no genuine reason that includes staying at home with a firearm.
This is a fun sport but there is a lot of regulation that you must be aware of that is why this comes across really harsh but we have all seen the results of persons not doing the right thing and ultimately failing which is not a good feeling all around.
We also see people saying 'yep ive read it so shut up about it' while saying something that is completely wrong about pistols, pistols have differences to rifle requirements and saying there is no difference immediately raises red flags in our minds. All we ask is you do the right thing, make sure that you are fully across things, making a completely informed decision so you arent wasting your time, money and ours.
We really look forward to welcoming new members that are keen and interested in learning how to shoot better.
